Being "Healthy" Is Easier Than You Think
Hello friends!
I'm here today to share a secret. A secret that the internet doesn't seem to want you to know.
What's the secret you may be asking? It's easier to be healthy than you think. Now, the internet will never tell you that. Every health website thrives off of the clickbait they have for the latest fad diet, swearing that science has discovered the way to lose 10 pounds in a week.
Now, you are a smart, logical person. You know better than to fall for such ludicrous claims.
But.
What if its true?? What if drinking a shot of apple cider vinegar everyday is the magic fix?!?
What if taking a pill everyday actually is the miracle you've been waiting for?? What if your life is about to finally change??!??
It won't. Your body doesn't work like that. How do I know? Who am I to tell you whats true and what isn't? My name is Ariel, I'm a university student studying to become a dietitian. And let me tell you, it's easier than they want you to think to lose weight and be healthy.
Its all
about
balance.
You don't have to stop eating carbs and work out 5 days a week and hate your life. What you need is to find a balance in your life. You need to balance those days when pizza is the only option with veggies and antioxidants, and less processed foods. America is struggling right now, more than any other country, because our attitude towards food is not one of fuel and mindfullness but convenience. We are a busy people, and we don't want to take time out of our lives to cook a meal from basic, wholesome ingredients.
This is understandable, but if you want your life to change, you have to change yourself. You have the power to be the person you've always wanted to be.
The reason women of France don't have a problem with obesity is because of their attitude towards food. They enjoy their food, slowly, they savor it. And stop eating when they are full. They grocery shop for a day or two's worth of food, not a weeks worth. They buy fresh ingredients that will nourish their bodies. They are happier, healthier, and skinnier. Not because they diet, but because they know how to eat, something Americans have forgotten.
We have forgotten what food tastes like. All we can taste anymore is sugary syrups in our coffee, fatty dressings on our salad, salty salty salty seasonings on just about everything. It's killing us, and it will continue to kill us, slowly, throughout our entire lives.
The trick is to train our taste buds to recognize real flavors again. To enjoy the sweetness of fruit, the crunch of vegetables, the true flavors of nature.
The trick to lifelong health is to get back to our roots. To nourish our bodies with natural foods, and occasionally indulge in that pizza, or a slice of cake, or a milk shake. Enjoy life, without stressing too much about your macro counts or how many grams of sugar was in that meal. Listen to your body, it knows what to do.
Exercise, but don't kill yourself with 5 am workouts everyday. Walk more, breathe. And for God sakes, SLEEP. Your body can't do anything when its sleep deprived and undernourished. Give your body a break and give it a chance to thrive, and I promise you will see a change. I know I have.
